About Our Communities Calendar

Bringing Craigmillar & Niddrie together through shared events, activities, and community spirit

The Idea

The Greater Craigmillar Community Calendar was created by local developer - Alexander Milligan in a voluntary partnership with Sandys Community Centre to make it easier for everyone in our area to connect with events and activties which are important to them.Help avoid event clashes.

This is a single, shared platform for all kinds of community activity — from youth projects and arts events to local meetings, open days, and celebrations.

Our Purpose & Goals

The Greater Craigmillar Community Calendar exists to help local organisations coordinate, collaborate, and connect. This platform is not here to police events or control what happens in our area. We do not have authority over whether events take place. Instead, we provide a shared space that helps organisations plan around each other, reduce unnecessary event clashing, and ensure the amazing work happening across all our neighbourhoods is easy for communities to find.

By bringing events together in one place, the platform also supports volunteer gathering, collaboration between organisations, and gives residents of all ages clear and welcoming ways to get involved — whether they are looking to attend, help out, connect, learn, or simply feel part of local life.
